Caleb Schearer
Caleb SchearerCertified Recovery Coach

Caleb Shearer, BA, BSW, MSW is a registered social worker providing compassionate and transformational trauma-informed counselling for men and their families battling PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and C-PTSD (complex-post-traumatic stress disorder) and addiction. Caleb utilizes a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model that non-judgementally highlights a client’s ineffective beliefs and behaviours, and replaces them with a new self-driven understanding of themselves and their responsibilities in the world. The goal of counselling is to return traumatized and addicted men to full active participation in their own health, relationships and lives.

Caleb has worked with trauma and addiction for over 20 years. His battle began with the confrontation of trauma, addiction and mental illness in his own family, and then within himself. Since committing himself to a life in recovery, Caleb has worked in virtually every aspect of addiction and mental health care and treatment— in front-line care as a social worker and foster parent, as a manager and practioner in community mental health outreach and residentially embedded support programs. Caleb has worked extensively on non 12-step clinical addiction and trauma program creation, design, launch and implementation. Caleb has worked as as a harm reduction and addiction treatment consultant for Vancouver Coastal Health and for BC MCFD, focusing on drug and mental health policies and procedures.

Caleb plans to continue writing, speaking, and working with groups and individuals.

In his personal life Caleb is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach and competitor. Caleb is co-raising 2 beautiful children.
